Thought for the Day  (Click to reveal)

The desire for truth is the highest of all desires, yet, it is still a desire. All desires must be given up for the real to be.....When all search ceases, it is the Supreme State.

Hide/Show Details

Get out your scuzziest wig, smear on some makeup and join us Sept. 11 for "Scag Drag Bingo" The event, which starts at 7 pm, will feature members of your Lambda Board in their skankiest drag.

So it's time to hit the thrift store for an ugly dress and some awful shoes, swing by the dollar store for some cheap lipstick and nasty eyeliner and maybe some tacky earrings, and head on over to the club. There are sure to be prizes involved fo the scaggiest (is that a word?) drag.

A night of fun, laughs, prizes and refreshments is in store.

Here's another reason for dressing up: you get $5 off the admission of $15 for 10 games. Hope to see you there.

Lambda Annual Board Meeting Sept. 12

Hide/Show Details

Following the evening of festivities for Scag Drag Bingo, come participate in the inner workings of Lambda Phoenix Center at the annual Board meeting. The meeting will be held at 2 pm at the club.

At the annual meeting, Lambda members are encouraged to come and voice their opinions about what is happening at the club. This is also the time the community elects people to the Board; once they are on the Board, the Board then votes them into positions of leadership.

The 50/50 raffle that has been going on this summer will also be held, and the winner will be announced. Tickets cost $1 and can be purchased from Board members. All proceeds go to benefit Lambda.

Lambda Team to Walk in AIDS Walk Phoenix

Hide/Show Details

Last year, the Lambda Phoenix Center team raised more than $3,300 for Aunt Rita's Foundation at AIDS Walk Phoenix. This money was split between 16 agencies in Phoenix that help people with HIV/AIDS.

Many of those people go to meetings at Lambda. Team LPC raised more money than most of the HIV/AIDS agencies.

This year, Team Lambda Phoenix Center hopes to surpass last year's mark. Join us Oct. 3 at AIDS Walk Phoenix downtown. There are now 19 agencies, which means it is more important than ever to help raise money, since the donations now have to be divided by 19 instead of 16. With the federal and state government continuing to cut funding for these essential services, many men and women with HIV/AIDS are not getting all of their needs met.

If these people are not getting the support they need and go "back out" and starting drinking/using again, they put other people who are drinking and using with them at risk. We all know inhibitions come down under the influence of intoxicants, and that includes sexually.

Thus, it is critical that we help these people stay in recovery, and that means helping them get the services they need at the 19 agencies. Some of these agenices, such as Phoenix Shanti Group, Ebony House, TERROS and others, provide addiction/alcoholism recovery services. But none of these agencies provide 12-step meetings, which Lambda does do.

You can support Team LPC by donating to the team by clicking here. You can register for the walk and join the team by clicking here. You can register your pet by clicking here.

More details will be posted here as they become available.
